Day 12 Udaipur |

After breakfast enjoy excursion to Nagda & Eklingji Temples followed by lunch at awe inspiring Devigarh Fort &
Palace.
Eklingji: The princes of Mewar are considered as ruling on behalf of Eklingji
(Mahadeva) enshrined in an imposing temple in the neighbouring Kailashpuri.
Despite the recent glitz, the palace has an atmosphere. The complex has many
other temples, including the very austere Lakulish of the 10th century with an
imposing black statue of the defied Shaivite preacher of 2nd century
Nagda (anc. Naaghrida) was the old capital of Mewar. The chief relic, now extinct consists of the twin 'Saas -
Bahu' temple of the 10th century. Spartan sanctums are here, wedded to sumptuous Mandaps, that of the bigger
temple being more so. This latter in a closed one richly carved, both inside and outside, as compared to the open
one in the other case. The group faces a large tank, the route to which is marked by a handsome torana or
ceremonial gate.
After a quick visit to these interesting temples we will take you to village Delwara and offer you the opportunity to
meet and interact with the villagers, possibly enjoy a camel cart ride and then drive to Devigarh Fort Palace
Nestled in the Aravali hills of Rajasthan, the 18th
century Devigarh Fort Palace, in the village of
Delwara commands one the three main passes
into the valley of Udaipur. Sajja Singh, who hailed
from the neighbouring state of Gujarat, was
awarded this strategically significant principality, in
recognition of his bravery and loyalty to Maharana
Pratap against the Mughal emperor Akbar, at the
battle of Haldighati (1576). The actual construction
of the fort palace started only in the 1760s, under Raghudev Singh II, with further additions being made to the
structure by the rulers who followed. The palace was absorbed into the state of Rajasthan in the 1960s, and was
subsequently abandoned.
After years of restoration and rebuilding Devigarh has been converted in a very beautiful hotel. The Fort Palace
was conceived as a place where the past meets the future. This luxury hotel takes on the look of modern India,
with an emphasis on design and detail, using local marbles and semi-precious stones.
Enjoy a lunch at this beautiful hotel before returning to your hotel in Udaipur
Later in the afternoon enjoy a boat ride on the placid waters of Lake Pichola.
